wine director & assistant general manager| michel vasilevich

With over a decade of experience in the food industry, Michel has created and implemented wine and beverage programs at a variety of New York City establishments, including El Teddy’s, ALTA, and Harry’s Café and Steak.  Prior to joining the Blenheim team, he helped launch the opening of Spanish restaurant CATA on the Lower East Side, where he served as General Manager and Wine & Beverage Director.

Vasilevich was born in Frankfurt, Germany.  In 1999 he landed in New York City where he began his beverage and restaurant management career at the swank celebrity den El Teddy’s.  He was subsequently part of the opening management team at ALTA, where his career interests shifted towards wine.

At Harry’s Café & Steak, Michel worked alongside famed Irish mixologist Sean Muldoon and helped maintain an extensive wine list that carried approximately 1000 offerings, with a substantial depth in vintage selections from Bordeaux and Burgundy.  In 2012, he helped launch CATA as the General Manager and Wine & Beverage Director, creating a wine, beer and spirits program with an emphasis on Old World wines, particularly from Spain.

At Blenheim, Michel curates a selection of domestic and international wines with special attention to biodynamic and organic varieties that compliment Chef Ryan Tate’s seasonally rotating menu.  On the floor, he offers his expertise and guides diners through custom wine tastings that pair beautifully with the chef’s tasting menus.
